Day 1 New York, NY
Board your overnight transatlantic flight, dinner and breakfast on board the flight.
Day 2 Munich
Upon arrival you will start exploring the Bavarian capital. Transfer to the hotel, balance of the day at leisure to explore on your own the Christmas market in Munich. A welcome dinner at your hotel. (D)
Day 3 Munich
After breakfast we start our sightseeing with a local guide and our first stop will in Oberammergau made famous by the Passion Play which takes place every 10 years. The fist performance took place in 1634 and the next play will take place in 2010. We will visit this quaint village, visit the theater and the many shops, and their specialty is wood carving. In the afternoon drive to Munich Germany's "secret capital" which includes the Olympic Stadium, 1,000-foot-high Television Tower, MARIENPLATZ with the Old and New Town Hall, and the Gothic Frauenkirche. Dinner in a local restaurant and overnight in Munich. (B, D)
Day 4 Munich
After breakfast we drive into the garden-like landscapes of the Bavarian Alps to Neuschwanstein, and visit KING LUDWIG'S CASTLE, probably Germany's best-known tourist attraction. Continue our drive to Innsbruck in the Tyrolean Mountains. Enjoy a pleasant walk through the quaint medieval lanes to Emperor Maximilian's GOLDEN ROOF, explore the Christmas gifts available here. Dinner will be at a local restaurant in Innsbruck. Return to Munich for overnight. (B, D)
Day 5 Munich
After breakfast we take the scenic route to the Sound of Music, Salzburg. A pleasant stroll with a Local Guide takes you through the historic center. Admire exquisite MIRABELL GARDENS, the Great Festival Hall, ST. PETER'S CHURCHYARD, and the monumental Domplatz. Also visit MOZART'S BIRTHPLACE in the charming Getreidegasse. Time to see the beauty of the Christmas season here. Return to Munich for overnight. Dinner will be on your own (B)
Day 6 Rothenburg
After breakfast drive to Nuremberg a treasure trove of early German history and medieval architecture. Tour the Old Town, carefully rebuilt after wartime destruction, and see the charming blend of stone and timbered dwellings and the massive ramparts with its 46 towers than to Rothenburg-ob-der Tauber, the most well-preserved town on the Romantic Road. Plunge back into the 16th Century as you walk through narrow cobbled streets lined with high-gabled houses to the market square dominated by its magnificent Renaissance town hall. There will be time to see the Christmas season in both places. Return to Munich for overnight. Dinner will be on your own. Munich (B)
Day 7 Munich
After breakfast you have the whole to yourself to enjoy. Go back to your favorite museums or enjoy more shopping. Tonight dinner will be in a local restaurant in Munich. (B, D)
Day 8 New York, NY
After breakfast transfer to the airport for our flight home. We arrive the same day. (B)
